Hotel d’Urville, New Zealand


The hotel carry the name of Dumont d’Urville, the French explorer who visited New Zealand three times between 1824 and 1840.He was the prime explorer to chart the Marlborough region since James Cook the 1770s. He charted the Marlborough Sounds, giving his name to the rugged d’Urville Island and other geographic landmarks in the area.


The building of the hotel is the Old Public Trust Building a Blenheim landmark. It was built in the art deco style in the 1920s and features a magnificent columned facade, high ceilings and grand staircase. At the beginning It was functioning as a wine bar and brasserie in 1993.Soon after it converted into a small hotel.


The boutique hotel offers eleven luxury rooms designed to be both stylish and comfortable. Each of them is specially themed and decorated.
